Report Filter & Component Filter

In a situation where the report data source is used, the report will be displayed based on the filter(s) in the report data source. However, the same filter is not applied to the component data source by default. Instead, when a join is presented between a report data source and a component data source, the report will only display the values of the report data source. For example,  if Account Type is filtered to Prospects in the report data source. The component data source may have other account types other than Prospect. In this case, the report will only display Prospect as the account type, all other values from the component data source will not be displayed. To achieved query efficiency in a big data volume environment, the same filter on Prospect should also be applied to the component data source.

Commonly Asked Question - Components are not showing the same filtered value on the report.

It is good practice to always apply the same filters on both the report data source and the component data source in order to sync up the data. This also improves the query efficiency and avoids an overload on the component query. In this case, both the report data source and the component data source did not have the same filters applied or the join fields were not defined at the grouping level. Because of this, the component(s) on the report will not display the expected results.
